Thriving in the Pacific Northwest: My Learning Journey Continues…
Living in the Pacific Northwest has provided a plethora of experiences, and I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s), that have propelled me forward in private, public, and non-profit sectors. Yet, as a Black Woman in America, I have encountered numerous obstacles, pain, and setbacks on the path to success. Despite consistently exceeding expectations, it often felt like there was an invisible force holding me back from reaching higher positions. In 2025, I reflect on just how “invisible” those who marginalized me were… I faced unjust criticism, scrutiny about my appearance, and relentless pressure to maintain an impossible standard of perfection “100% of the time”. At times, the burden was overwhelming. However, with the unwavering support of my Village (family, friends, mentors, etc.), and by the grace of God, I echo the powerful words of Maya Angelou, “Still I Rise.”
To better understand how to change the narratives around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B), it’s imperative to recognize the harsh realities of our history and the existing culture surrounding the topic.
Our pursuit of knowledge must be rooted in authenticity, openness, and respect, and not gaslighting, retaliation, and harm. There’s no better time than the present to establish a foundation built on thoughtful, educated, and genuine connections. This is one of the main reasons I started my own business in my zenith career: Not for fortune or fame, but to provide IMPACTFUL ways to be the change, because history has its eyes on us, our future generations are counting on us to do our part, and we MUST do the necessary and at times “good trouble” work to go beyond the performative acts surrounding DEI&B.
As a seasoned professional with successful outcomes in law, health and human services, finance, human resources, contracting, project/program and organizational change management, and a zealous advocate for lifelong learning, in both personal and professional growth, I am eager to boldly share my experiences, time, talents, and insights to empower others.
I have degrees and certifications in areas of value to assist you in furthering this work in meaningful and productive ways, though you will not find that I have a DEI Certification, as they can be problematic on many levels. One of the Learning Journeys offered lays the groundwork for foundation building and highlights the complexities around why many services from “experienced consultants” after the murder of George Floyd are hurtful and at times, can be harmful.
Standing in my truth, power, and purpose means forging a legacy for DEI&B in an Engaging, Sustainable, Transformative, Equitable, and Purpose-driven manner that my ancestors, family (especially our Grands), future leaders, and communities can build upon.
As you explore the diverse range of services available, I have full confidence that you will discover something deeply meaningful to you that we can partner on together.
To keep things 100 (as not to compromise my values or beliefs) – the Learning Journeys offered will most likely present challenges and will stretch you beyond your comfort zone. My goal is to transform hearts, minds, perspectives and attitudes towards the complexities that unpacking DEI&B can present, and discomfort can be a part of the process. Rest assured, that by setting clear expectations, fostering trust, and maintaining transparency and accountability, it will undoubtedly prove to be incredibly rewarding as you journey along the DEI&B Spectrum towards realizing your fullest potential as a dedicated change agent and whole BEING.
I am excited for the opportunity to guide you and/or your organization in standing in your truth, power, and purpose, and to establish the necessary changes needed for DEI&B to live fully in your walk and talk, in personal and professional ways.
In gratitude,
~ Ms. Jacquie
